Honfleur is the only port on the coast to fish for white shrimp. This is a local estuary shrimp, also known as the "Chevrette".

The Esplanade des Voiles de la Liberté marks the site of the first ascent of the Seine by the world's largest sailing ships. In the last century, the damming of the Seine enabled boats to sail up to Rouen (capital of the Normandy region). During "Rouen Armadalarge sailing ships call at Honfleur or sail offshore during this festive and authentic period.

The Fatouville-Grestain Lighthousebuilt in 1850, has been classified as a historical monument since November 2010. It's a truly unusual site in the Baie de Seine, offering a panoramic, plunging view over the estuary. This exceptional site is also home to a number of exhibitions, so make the most of your iodine escape!

Sainte-Catherine Church and its suburb is a religious building like no other! Listed as a "Monument Historique" since 1879, it is the largest wooden church in France, with a separate bell tower. Its interior decoration, in reference to the Gens de Mer, is well worth the detour!

The Côte de Grâce boasts one of the oldest shrines in the region, surrounded by centuries-old trees. According to the Honfleur Terre d'Estuaire Tourist Office: "The Notre-Dame de Grâce chapel, built in 1600-1615 by the burghers and sailors of Honfleur, replaces an earlier chapel that disappeared in a cliff fall. This primitive chapel was founded before 1023 by Richard II, Duke of Normandy, to fulfill a vow made during a storm in which he almost perished. The cult of Notre-Dame de Grâce has been perpetuated ever since.
