Who we are
The Calvados coastline concentrates major economic, ecological and social issues, and makes a significant contribution to the region's attractiveness.
For several years now, the Département of Calvados has been pursuing its ambitions to exploit and develop its coastline, making its ports and coastline an economic lever for the entire region. It is committed to building a genuine strategy for the sea, water sports and coastal attractiveness, with a view to the sustainable development of its territory, in order to meet the challenges linked to yachting, water sports, fishing, ship repair, as well as the environment and natural surroundings.
- Efficient management of port infrastructures and estates: optimize the operation of the département's port estates, harmonizing the management methods of each port and disseminating best practices, while seeking complementarities between them.
- Preservation and enhancement of the environment: environmental protection, health monitoring of seafood products and water quality, treatment of rivers, analysis of marine hazards, etc.
- Support for economic development linked to the sea : support for short circuits, coordination of European funds, support for the ship repair industry...
- Enhanced tourist and residential appeal: support for activities and leisure activities, introduction of sailing to schoolchildren, support for seaside events and exceptional projects (Mora).
This strategy entered its most concrete application phase with the creation of Ports du Calvados.
