Promising initial results for the shell

December 2, 2025

Scallop harvesting is back in the Seine Bay... and the tone has been set.

From the very first dives, the fleets demonstrated their expertise on one of the most challenging sites in Europe.

A highly precise regulatory framework and a fully mobilized industry: strictly defined fishing zones, controlled daily quotas, and fishing windows limited to just a few hours. This collective discipline, supported by professionals, guarantees the exemplary nature of the Normandy management model: a clean, fair, and sustainable start.

A shellfish rendezvous : initial catches confirm high-quality scallops, well "milked," uniform, and perfectly sized. A healthy resource, harvested with precision, despite sometimes harsh weather conditions.

Versatile sailors: an industry that never slows down: once their shellfish fishing season is over, crews head back out to sea to target fish, cephalopods, and other shellfish depending on what is in season. This versatility demonstrates the strength, technical expertise, and resilience of the Normandy fleet.

At the dock, comprehensive operational support ( maritime cooperative, fish wholesalers, port manager, shipowners, associations, etc.): meticulous organization of landings, quota monitoring, optimized logistics flows, repair and maintenance of fishing equipment, support for industry stakeholders, etc.

Ports du Calvados reaffirms its commitment: to support professionals, secure their operations, modernize infrastructure, and uphold the values of sustainable, local, responsible fishing that is proud of its expertise.
